I’m a photographer, videographer and all-round digital content creator based in Japan.
I’m a completely self-taught creative with a non-linear resume:
2013: Graduated with a Bachelor of Laws
2014: Started my legal career in Australia
2020: Quit my career and moved to Tokyo
2022: Became a creator at Tokyo Weekender magazine
2023: Became TW’s Digital Content Director, overseeing Tokyo Weekender’s digital presence
2025: Whilst I’m still working at Tokyo Weekender, I am also available for freelance photo and video work
Since then, it’s been an incredible journey:
Grew Tokyo Weekender’s official Instagram, @tokyoweekender, from 9,000 to 300,000+ followers, positioning it as a leading voice in Tokyo’s media landscape. This resulted in significant brand recognition, sales and collaborations. We have a few famous followers, such as Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow and John Mayer, to name a few!
Grew my Instagram, @lisaellenknight, to 130,000+ followers

A little bit about me:
I love exploring, photographing and writing about retro hotels and kissaten in Japan
I produced, shot and edited a short documentary about a community of ocean swimmers in Australia. You can watch it here.
I’m a huge Formula 1 fan and was fortunate to shoot with Japan’s Yuki Tsunoda for Esses Magazine.
I love to share free photography education. Photography changed my life so I feel a duty to pay it forward.
