Photographer, videographer & writer based in Tokyo, Japan.

I’m Lisa. I’m a photographer, videographer and Digital Content Director at Tokyo Weekender, but mostly I just love to tell stories.

I left my legal career to pursue photography full-time after moving to Japan. My work spans various styles and media, and I’ve held exhibitions in Kobe and Tokyo, including at Shibuya Hikarie.

What do I do?

I know how to grow Instagram accounts.
I’ve grown my own account, lisaellenknight, to 131,000 followers, and I’ve grown Tokyo Weekender from 9,000 followers to 180,000+ followers and a mega 4% engagement rate. I’m skilled at branding, marketing and visual identity.

I take photos.
I’ve shot for hundreds of clients around Japan, including luxury hotels and restaurants. My photography can be found within the pages of Tokyo Weekender, plus a couple of cheeky front covers.

I take videos.
I shoot or long-form content, such as Instagram reels, TikToks and YouTube videos.

I write.
When I’m not taking photos, editing videos or managing social media channels, I often write about culture and travel.

I build communities.
I’ve created a community around Tokyo Weekender, and have also founded a Women’s Photography Collective in Tokyo with a 1,500+ person strong community.
